Lacoste (Lacoste is in Russian said) — the French company founded in 1933 makes clothes, footwear, perfumery, optical and sunglasses, tennis boots, hours and various leather products. A symbol and a logo of the company is the image of a green crocodile.

René Lacoste was the famous French tennis player who achieved popularity in two areas: tennis and fashion. In 1926, participating in the Open tennis championship of the USA, René Lacoste wore the made with own hand white shirt with short sleeves which is completely made of light knitted fabric in which it was very comfortable to play a strong heat. It were the first-ever special clothes for sports activities. This shirt strikingly differed from tennis clothes of that time, traditional "city" shirts with long sleeves were fashionable. In 1927, during the Davis Cup, the American press nicknamed Lacoste "alligator" because of a dispute on a suitcase from crocodile leather (the captain of the French national team on tennis had to be ruined on a crocodile suitcase: he promised it to the young athlete René Lacoste for a victory on the Davis Cup). In the homeland, in France, Lacoste's nickname was changed on "crocodile" and was assigned to it because of persistent and tenacious behavior on court where Lacoste never forgave mistakes to the rivals. Robert George, Lacoste's friend, drew for him a crocodile who was embroidered subsequently on a blazer in which the athlete acted.
